MATHCAD
This multipurpose software is widely used in scientific and engineering research. It is user friendly for difference equations experiments; in fact, all of the attractor images on the DDS-NDE website were created using Mathcad. The following examples illustrate Mathcad's capabilities and ease of use in studying map iterations and some other topics of interest in discrete dynamics and applications (for information about the various features and capabilities of various versions, go to the Mathcad home page). The next three examples should run on any version from Mathcad 2000 to the most recent Mathcad 14.
Example 1: A linear vector equation, eigenvalues and other matrix operations, time-series plots, etc.
Example 2: The Henon map with a few of its critical curves
Example 3: Chaos on a cone surface: 3D nonlinear maps and scatter plots
