Welcome
to this gateway to the discrete-dynamics universe
This website contains substantial
information, intriguing
images and many links to interesting places on the
internet that relate to Discrete Dynamical Systems
(DDS). These systems are often
modeled by Nonlinear Difference Equations (NDE)
where time changes in discrete steps. Examples of DDS
include the interest rate on mortgages offered by a bank
that is updated daily and represents a quantity that
changes in discrete time steps (days). Also the annual
emergence of cicadas from the ground once a year for
mating and their subsequent return to the ground is a
discrete-time (annual) periodic occurrence of an event.
The DDS universe is filled with applications and
NDE-based models of phenomena
in the social and natural sciences (economics, biology,
physics...).

Use the buttons
on the left to access information on a wide range of
resources that involve DDS-NDE models. Regardless of your technical
background, you may find the images of orbits and
attractors
for some of the NDE especially intriguing (click on the
Attractors button). These images
typically come with detailed information about them
in case you decide to explore further.
